We are honoured to have won the award for Best Small Office for our renovation of the old Monaghan Train Station at the 2024 Building and Architect of the Year Awards, held in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. The project involves the renovation of the protected structure into our practice’s studio space and a variety of vibrant office accommodation including collaborative co-working spaces, meeting and conferencing suites for new entrepreneurs and small businesses in the local community. More details can be found here…..
The project captivated the judging panel who outlined that the conversion of the train station into modern office spaces “ showcased an excellent use of repurposing, whilst maintaining the building’s traditional essence. The project’s thoughtful design makes a significant contribution to the community, marking a harmonious blend of old and new.”
Commenting on the win, Craftstudio Architecture Director Ronan Fitzpatrick said “It’s really fantastic to get this national recognition for a building of such local importance. The building lay derelict for many years and became an eyesore in the community. Seeing buildings like these restored and reimagined demonstrates confidence in the locality and hopefully acts as a catalyst for similar projects in the region.”
