Hornhead Homestead

Hornhead Homestead

The aim of this project is to stitch together a series of ancient homestead buildings to create a contemporary home on the slopes of Hornhead. The house seeks to transform and revive these long-abandoned buildings. New forms are woven between rocky outcrops and existing stone structures in a complimentary clachan layout. Overlooking Sheephaven Bay, the primary monopitch block has a linear layout to capture natural light and spectacular views along the coastline. Hornhead Homestead is designed to integrate well with its surroundings. Hunkered down and crafted from stone and dark timber cladding, it’s a sustainable addition to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
